Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

Our Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) method that uses high-frequency sound waves (typically 0.5 MHz to 25 MHz) to detect internal flaws, measure material thickness, and evaluate material properties without damaging the test object.

Our Ultrasonic testing is based on the transmission of high-frequency sound waves into a material.
When ultrasonic waves travel through a material:
• If the material is free from defects, the sound waves continue uninterrupted.
• When waves encounter a discontinuity (crack, void, inclusion, or boundary), part of the energy is reflected back.
• The reflected signal (echo) is received and displayed on the instrument screen.
• The location and size of the defect are determined from the time taken for the echo to return and its amplitude.
